New England
Aquarium

The New England Aquarium is an iconic destination in the heart of Boston, it draws visitors from all over the world who are interested in learning about the aquatic environments found nearby and far. Working with Domani Studios, NEAQ was looking for a refresher to their digital experience. They wanted a place that could be a resource for the modern visitor who could purchase a ticket weeks in advance, or view the map and learn more while on site at the aquarium. As the lead designer, it was my role to design a new and updated creative look that brought forward a fresh face to the aquarium's dated 70's style. It was important to create a site that not only was accessible to all viewers, but was bright, fun, educational and encouraged meaningful delight.

Working directly with the client on a bi-weekly status, my team and I created a wireframe to map the 1200+ pages from their old site down to a more managable & navigable number. As the lead design on this project I created a visual look & feel that introduced a freshness to what was previously seen as a dark & dated brand. This included more bright colors, a reliance on white over navy blue, new playful yet respectable typefaces and a focus on boldier more meaningful imagery & content.

Over the course of 6+ months, my team and I designed and developed a website that works across all platforms and devices, and that is used by visitors daily.
